Problems in Interviewing

Briefly explain what you might do during an interview in each of the following situations:

  1. The child is running around the interview room.
  2. The child insists on control of the pen, dolls, etc. during the process.
  3. Crying: 4 year old
    Crying: 10 year old
  4. The child exhibits shame (hand over face, head down).
  5. The child exhibits withdrawal (moves away physically, shuts eyes).
  6. The child continually leaves the room to see their caretaker.
  7. The child is aggressive towards you, the interviewer.
  8. The child asks if this has ever happened to interviewer.
  9. The child tried to take his/her clothes off to show.
  10. The child grabs or touches interviewer.
  11. The child recants disclosure.
  12. The child makes bizarre statements or invites fantasy.
